Deaf Man Opens Catfish Farm In Lagos
A man with impaired hearing, Emmanuel Isado has launched Isado Omo Ajai Ventures, Catfish Farms and Enterprises in Lagos. This, he said, is in order to showcase deaf people’s ability in disabilities and their resolve to contribute their quota to the economic development of the immediate society and nation at large.
He said he launched the farm after he had worked for 28 years with the Flour Mills of Nigeria as a Senior Security Assistant.
“The company sponsored my training in agricultural ventures. At the end of my stint with the Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, I decided to organise a business venture to keep myself occupied,” he noted.
Speaking at the event, Mr Isado explained that he is committed to training other deaf people to be gainfully employed by helping them create wealth through ventures like his. He further appealed to the ministry of agriculture at the federal and state level to consider the plight of people with impaired hearing who are interested in farming and agro-allied business.
He added that the challenge of funding and support are the key factors limiting many deaf people from running profitable business ventures.
Olalekan Uthman, the Deputy Director Fisheries, who represented Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture commended the efforts of Mr Isado while pledging the support of the government for the venture.
