Otto Wireless Solutions has been appointed the sole agent for Hunan HKT Technology Co. Ltd. in South Africa, strengthening its portfolio of LoRaWAN and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for local businesses and industries.
Founded in 2010, Hunan HKT Technology specialises in smart industry solutions and IoT applications. The company provides end-to-end LoRaWAN solutions, covering sensor nodes, gateways, cloud-based network server platforms and application server platforms.
HKT’s technology is designed for a range of applications, including smart cities, smart buildings and offices, smart agriculture, smart utilities, and industrial IoT environments.
Through the exclusive partnership, Otto Wireless Solutions will represent HKT’s full product portfolio in South Africa. The company will provide local sales, technical support and market development, adding HKT’s solutions to its existing range of LoRaWAN products and technologies.
According to Barry Culligan, Managing Director of Otto Wireless Solutions, the partnership will expand the company’s offering in several areas where it has identified growing demand.
“This appointment is a further step towards Otto Wireless Solutions becoming the ‘go-to’ supplier for all things LoRa in South Africa,” said Culligan.
He highlighted several HKT products that complement Otto Wireless Solutions’ existing portfolio, including livestock tracking and monitoring systems, smart door locks, parking sensors, and smoke and heat detectors.
HKT also offers smart metering solutions for water, gas and electricity. These products will become available in South Africa once the required certification processes have been completed.
The partnership positions Otto Wireless Solutions to provide South African customers with a broader range of LoRaWAN-enabled technologies for applications spanning agriculture, utilities, property management, security and smart infrastructure.
