Kubota Honours Military Veterans with Farm Equipment to Strengthen Agricultural Enterprises

Supporting farmers with access to modern agricultural machinery remains one of the most effective ways to improve productivity, strengthen food systems and encourage the next generation of agricultural entrepreneurs. Around the world, initiatives that recognise service while investing in farming are helping producers build more resilient and sustainable agricultural businesses.

Kubota Tractor Corporation has reaffirmed this commitment by awarding five United States military veterans with new agricultural equipment through its Geared to Give programme, an initiative implemented in partnership with the Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC).

The machinery handover took place during the NASCAR San Diego Weekend at Naval Base Coronado from 19–21 June 2026, recognising veterans who have successfully transitioned from military service into agriculture.

Investing in Farmers Through Mechanisation

The programme provides farmers with modern agricultural equipment to improve operational efficiency, increase productivity and support the long-term sustainability of their farming enterprises.

This year’s recipients received a range of Kubota machinery, including compact tractors, utility tractors, a compact track loader and a utility vehicle, tailored to the needs of their individual farming operations.

The beneficiaries represent diverse agricultural enterprises, including vegetable production, regenerative farming, livestock production, poultry farming and pasture-based mixed farming systems.

According to Alex Woods, President of Kubota Tractor Corporation and an Army National Guard veteran, the programme recognises veterans not only for their military service but also for the important role they continue to play in supporting agriculture and their local communities.

Supporting Agricultural Entrepreneurship

The five recipients each represented one of Kubota’s operating divisions across the United States and operate farms focused on sustainable food production and regenerative agricultural practices.

Their enterprises range from small family-owned vegetable farms and diversified livestock operations to regenerative pasture-based systems that prioritise soil health, environmental stewardship and local food production.

Beyond receiving new machinery, the recipients were recognised during NASCAR San Diego Weekend, where they participated in special events including race activities, behind-the-scenes tours and an official presentation ceremony celebrating their contribution to agriculture.

Machinery Driving Agricultural Growth

Access to reliable machinery remains one of the biggest challenges facing many farmers worldwide, including across Africa, where mechanisation continues to be a key priority for improving agricultural productivity.

Programmes that improve access to tractors, loaders and other farm equipment enable producers to expand operations, improve efficiency and reduce labour constraints while increasing profitability.

As African agriculture continues its transition towards greater mechanisation, similar public-private partnerships could play an important role in supporting young farmers, military veterans, women and emerging agribusiness entrepreneurs seeking to modernise their farming operations.

Long-Term Commitment to Agriculture

The 2026 Geared to Give programme attracted more than 700 applications through the Farmer Veteran Coalition’s Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund, demonstrating strong interest in agricultural support initiatives for former military personnel.

Since launching the programme in 2015, Kubota has contributed more than US$1.2 million in organisational support and grants to the Farmer Veteran Coalition while donating 56 pieces of agricultural equipment to veteran farmers across the United States.

Kubota has also strengthened its commitment to agriculture and rural communities through strategic partnerships, including a multi-year collaboration with NASCAR that positions the company as the Official Tractor, Official Construction Equipment Partner, Official Compact Equipment Partner and Official Utility Vehicle of NASCAR.

As governments, manufacturers and development organisations continue seeking innovative ways to strengthen agricultural production, initiatives that combine mechanisation with farmer support programmes offer valuable lessons for improving food security and promoting sustainable agricultural development across Africa.
