Mardouw Reaffirms Position as South Africa’s Leading EVOO Producer

Mardouw Olive Estate has once again solidified its reputation as South Africa’s top Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) producer, winning an impressive array of domestic and international awards in 2025. These accolades include prestigious gold medals from Italy and Greece, highlighting the estate’s consistent excellence on the global stage.

Gerbrand Nijman, CEO of Mardouw Olive Estate, remarked, “To win a prize is great, but to win so many, year after year, reflects the farm’s consistency and long-term commitment.”

Founders André and Marijke Verder added, “We farm with patience, precision, and respect for the land. These awards are a testament that a quality-first approach pays off. Starting 25 years ago with a dream, it is incredible to achieve this recognition on South African soil.”

Following a strong 2024, when Mardouw was ranked number one in South Africa and among the world’s top 30 producers, the 2025 awards position the estate for potential entry into the global top 20—an unprecedented achievement for South African olive oil.

Mardouw’s success demonstrates that dedication to quality and sustainability can elevate South African agricultural products to the highest international standards.
