The Cooperative Executive Management Team (CEMT) is proud to announce the return of the 6th Annual HEMPTECH Conference (Hemp Education, Markets, Processing, and Technology for Economic and Cultural Harmonization), taking place once again in Ghana. As Africa’s longest-running hemp-focused event, HEMPTECH continues to lead the way in shaping policy, research, education, and innovation around industrial hemp on the continent.
Founded in 2019 and based in Georgia, USA, CEMT is a farm management services company prioritizing support for Black farmers. Since launching the first HEMPTECH conference in 2020, CEMT has been at the forefront of advancing hemp legislation and development in Ghana and across the ECOWAS region.
A Stronger Focus for 2025: Manufacturing & Processing
Now in 2025, with expanded regional partnerships, this year’s HEMPTECH will focus on industrial manufacturing and processing—critical areas where several African nations, including South Africa, Malawi, and Botswana, have faced implementation hurdles despite favorable legislation.
By contrast, Uganda has recently passed progressive hemp laws, while Nigeria is fast emerging as a key target for expansion—not only for HEMPTECH but also for the One Hectare Sustainable Farm Project, a groundbreaking live-work-play agricultural model for rural and urban development. This initiative is part of the AIE Project (Advocacy, Implementation, and Education), backed by a 20-member Consortium of Black Experts established during HEMPTECH 2022.
This consortium has played a pivotal role in drafting Rwanda’s international government hemp tender, showing the power of Black diaspora-led collaboration in shaping global hemp policy. Conversations are now underway with Grenada and Bermuda, signaling growing Caribbean interest in both HEMPTECH and the One Hectare model.
Milestones and Global Collaboration
Ghana is preparing to license West Africa’s first official hemp research farm, marking another historic step. CEMT is currently in discussions with the Ghanaian Ministry of Interior to finalize the regulatory framework.
These milestones—and the full HEMPTECH journey—can be explored via the Cooperative Executive Management Team’s YouTube Channel, showcasing everything from sustainable farming certifications and urban agriculture workshops, to solar-powered irrigation and farm stay accommodations.
Connecting Continents: Investment, Education, and Trade
The 6th HEMPTECH Conference will highlight the intersection of international investment, education, and global trade, particularly in light of the USDA’s recent $75 million funding initiative to enhance hemp education and strengthen supply chains.
HEMPTECH is uniquely positioned to connect U.S. hemp farmers with African processors, driving value-added production and opening new doors in the global green economy.
This conference presents a strategic platform for governments, private sector players, and development partners to collaborate, invest, and shape the future of sustainable agriculture through hemp.
