Africa Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization

To mark its 80th anniversary, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with its partners, is organizing the Africa Conference on Sustainable Agriculture Mechanization (SAM) in Dar Es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania, from 25 to 28 November 2025.

This event builds on the momentum of the Global Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (GAMC) held in Rome, Italy, in 2023 and responds to the call to action to scale up sustainable mechanization across Africa.

It aims to bring together stakeholders to enhance regional collaboration, strengthen institutional arrangements for effective mechanization delivery, foster knowledge exchange and promote sustainable agricultural practices that address the needs of African farmers.

In line with the FAO Strategic Framework 2022-31 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Conference will highlight the importance of innovation in sustainable mechanization, especially its role in transforming agriculture across Africa.

The event will be organized over four days. Key topics will include implementing the Framework for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization in Africa, advancing innovation and digitalization, investment, promoting sustainable and conservation agriculture and scaling inclusive business models and value chains. The last day will be a field visit.

A call for abstracts is launched inviting potential speakers to contribute to the event.

In addition to oral presentations, poster sessions are also planned. Visit the conference website for details.
